Mother, like daughter

Since I was a little girl my mother, Susan, has been planning extravagant parties. It has been something that I have grown to love because of her. Each party that she plans has a specific theme that every element revolves around. From decorations to games everything is planned with the theme in mind. Today I would like to share with you just a few of her events that were fabulously executed.

One of the first parties that I remember her planning for me was my Blue’s Clues birthday party. At my birthday parties there were always activities to keep the children entertained. At this party we had to eat jello out of a bowl like a puppy. Another dog themed party, Scooby Doo, we went on a scavenger hunt around the back yard looking for hidden scooby snacks. And of course there was always a prize for the winners.

Once I started getting older, I began giving my ideas for themes and activities. Looking back there is one party in particular that stands out in my mind for being the most dedicated to details. This was a combined birthday party with my nephew, who is three years younger than me. Together we decided we would put the family head to head in a baseball game. The invitations stated to attend the party decked out in Cubs or White Sox attire.

Not only the guests were decked out in baseball attire, so was the house and the food. With more baseball decor then you can imagine, and stadium food everywhere you looked. With an ice cream cart, hot dogs, and of course peanuts and crackerjacks.

My mother and now business partner Susan, has taught me more than I could have ever learned in a classroom about planning and executing events. I’m very excited to continue work alongside her for all of our future events.
